Educating is a passion and a chance to make a difference in the world. Hi! I am Rochelle Tkach. I proudly work for the District School Board of Niagara as an Elementary Teacher. I have a Master of Education from Brock University with a focus on 21st Century Skills and Educational Technology. I have designed this site as my digital platform for connecting with educators and companies looking for support. I hope you check-out my Blog, Projects, Student Achievements, and Services while visiting Rochelle's Roots!

Throughout my time at BrockU, I developed a strong passion for working beyond the classroom with companies trying to also support and make a difference in the field of education. I believe in progress, and I strongly advocate that education companies NEED authentic practicing educators supporting their launch, curriculum alignment, piloting, and content development. So what do I bring to the table? Over the course of my career, I have developed an understanding of the relationship and wavy waters that start-up companies pursue while trying to support the field of education. I have completed internships/contracts with multiple EdTech and Educational Companies including, Vireo Education, Pearson, Cube for Teachers, Chalk.com, and Pixton. Throughout these experiences, I have specialized in Curriculum Alignment, Research (White Paper Reports), and Content Creation. I hope to support the roots of other companies with their launch or growth in the field of education. If interested, please see my Grow Success Services. You can book an initail consult and receive a follow-up quote.

I have worked for over 10 years as an Elementary Teacher and have also instructed in the Teacher Education Program at Brock University. I strongly value EdTech in the classroom and Environmental Education. As an Educator, I have led my school into 2 years of Patinum ECO School Certification. My students and I have designed and built a large outdoor edible garden and oversee indoor hydropnics systems together. I have a strong understanding of the grant writing process and thrive on bringing large visions to life with my students. My projects have received the Whole Kids Foundation Garden Grant twice, the TD Friends of the Environment Grant, and Learning for Sustainable Futures Grant. I recently received runner up for the Susan Langly Earth Stewards Award, which is such an honor.

I have learned a lot from my students over the years and am very passionate about the Engineer Design Process. The authentic integration of EdTech through Interdisciplinary Learning is one of my ongoing practices. I do not believe in isolating subjects and always try to find currriculum connections between as many subject areas when launching a unit. I believe this makes learning less focused on disciplines and reflects the natural flow of the real world. I am always having fun with students designing through Code, Minecraft EDU, 3D Printing, MakeyMakey, Microbits, iMovie, and much more! Learning should be hands-on and fun while also strongly rooted in curriculm and empathetic problem solving.
